UWB app and UWB tag connection
UWB tag position is updated in the background of UWB app, even if the search mode is turned off.
The UWB search modality offers two options: standard or enhanced.
I experimented with both modes, but in the enhanced mode, no signal was detected from the UWB tag. Consequently, I proceeded to test only the standard mode, which is set as the default. It is possible that the enhanced mode could be activated through an OTA update in the future.
If the item tag is selected, a new menu will appear, offering several functionalities as follows:
Search: enabling ranging and search using Ultra-Wideband (UWB) technology provides precise location tracking capabilities.
Play sound: the UWB tag can emit an audible signal, serving as an auditory beacon for locating items.
Notification when lost: in the event of an item being lost, active ranging initiates the process of pinpointing its exact location.
Rename item tag
Remove the tag
UWB fine ranging directions appear within 5/6 meter distance from the tag.
The precision is around 50cm from the tag. The search tests were conducted into apartments in a crowded wireless connectivity, with multiple devices connected to WiFi (2.4 GHz) and Bluetooth.
To use the Motorola MotoTag with the Blackview BV8900 Pro, it is mandatory to have Google Find My Device. For the Blackview tag, there is a native app on the smartphone.
