Provided in the package:
1 * Galaxy SmartTag2
1 * Clip
1 * Quick guide
To enable the Galaxy SmartTag2 connectivity is necessary to extract the battery tray and remove the blue plastic stripe.
Once activated, is possible to proceed with the integration in the SmartThings app.
For this test, I adopted the Samsung Galaxy FoldZ 2 smartphone.
Once the SmartTag2 is detected, the system asks for accepting the use of location information.
When the installation is completed, the tag appears in the SmartThings app device home page, checking the SmartTag2 system version and proceeding to update it, if necessary. In this screen is possible to set several parameters:
View the map for monitoring the position of the tag and the smartphone
Find the device from the tag, just pressing the button in the centre of the SmartTag2.
Set volume level and ringtones.
Power saving modality, will extend the battery life using only Bluetooth search mode. (Search Nearby signal indicator and map).
Galaxy SmartTag2 battery percentage.
For proceeding to make the test, is necessary to open the map and select one of the search type:
Search Nearby: enabling Bluetooth and UWB for local search.
Navigate: uses Google map to reach the last updated position of the tag and in its proximity enabling Search Nearby.
Notify when left behind.
Lost mode settings, for emergency contacts info/message and notification when found.
Related to the “lost mode” the sharing device position/location will help to update the tag position using the Galaxy users network.
In the nearby search test the Bluetooth search is very responding even in a crowded wireless signals area (other WiFi 2.4 GhZ and several Bluetooth devices nearby connected).
In the proximity of the SmartTag2, UWB switched in for enhancing the micro location, with the chance to use the camera for taking advantage of AR.
In the 'Lost mode' settings, it is possible to input which information or message to insert in case a third party found the tag.
In the three dot source button, is possible to set additional parameters, such as:
Allows device to be found
Encrypting and offline device find location
Unknown tag detection option
Allow the use of location info
Tomorrow, I will be releasing the teardown of the Samsung Galaxy SmartTag2.
